The Taliban say they were behind the first major terrorist attack in Pakistan since Osama bin Laden was killed.
Eighty people were killed in two bomb blasts at a military training centre in Pakistan, which the Taliban say they carried out to avenge the death of Osama bin Laden. Most of the victims were military recruits who were boarding buses to head home after nine months of training at the facility in Charsadda, a city in Pakistan's northwest. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which wounded more than 100 people, and warned that more would follow as retribution for the assassination of the al-Qaeda chief. The attacks come as the Pakistani military attempts to explain how much it knew about bin Laden's whereabouts before he was killed last week.
