The Canada Aviation and Space Museum will put the original robotic arm on display once NASA retires its shuttle program.
The original Canadarm will be put on display at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa once NASA's space shuttle fleet is retired this summer. The iconic robotic arm, developed by Toronto-based Spar Aerospace, was first used aboard a space shuttle in 1981 and has been used on dozens of missions to transport equipment from shuttles to the International Space Station. This Canadarm, one of three remaining after five were originally built, will fly to space one last time on Monday aboard the shuttle Endeavour before both are retired. The shuttle Atlantis is set to launch for NASA's final shuttle mission on July 12.
