A two-month siege of one of Libya's largest cities appears over after rebels seize Misrata's airport.
Libyan rebels have scored a considerable victory by securing the airport in the city of Misrata, putting an end to a nearly two-month-long siege at the hands of Moammar Gadhafi's troops. The city, Libya's third largest, has witnessed much of the country's most vicious fighting in recent months, and rebel leaders say capturing the airport gives the battle-weary populace a much-needed psychological boost. Meanwhile, Gadhafi gave a televised speech for the first time in two weeks, NATO planes continued to bomb Gadhafi's properties in Tripoli, and British Foreign Secretary William Hague met with Mustafa Abdul Jalil, leader of the rebel's transition government, to establish an embassy of sorts in London.
