Ottawa's biggest theatre is hosting the controversial Dutch MP for a speech tonight, even though the NAC just found out yesterday.

Geert Wilders, the fiercely anti-Islamic Dutch MP, will be speaking at Ottawa's National Arts Centre tonight, although the federally funded theatre only found out who its guest was yesterday. The NAC said it was aware that a parliamentarian from the Netherlands was going to speak at an event for Ottawa's Tulip Festival, but it didn't know which one. Wilders has declared that Islam is taking over Europe and that it is a totalitarian belief system devoted to violence. The NAC, which gets about half of its funding from the federal government, said it does not endorse Wilders' views. Wilders spoke in Toronto last night as part of a two-day speaking tour hosted by the International Free Press Society and Canada Christian College.
