A Sudbury, Ont., teen doesn't want to leave jail before his cellmate, who happens to be his recently convicted stepfather.

An 18-year-old convicted of stealing a car and possessing weapons and marijuana asked for his six-month jail sentence to be extended so that he can spend more time with his cellmate – his stepfather. Justin Beynen told a Sudbury, Ont., judge that he would have no place to go once he was freed from jail, and wanted to be released at the same time as his stepdad, 25-year-old Jason Hastings, who is currently serving a nine-month sentence for trafficking cocaine. Beynan said his biological father is dead and his mother is a drug addict, leaving Hastings as his only other adult supervision.
