Ruth Ellen Brosseau can't speak much French, took a mid-campaign trip to Vegas, and still won her Quebec riding.
The rookie New Democrat MP who took a mid-campaign vacation to Las Vegas has now been accused of faking two signatures that appeared on her nomination form, leaving open the possibility of a byelection. A married couple told a local paper that Ruth Ellen Brosseau, the newly elected member for the Quebec riding of Berthier-Maskinongé, falsified both their signatures as two of the 100 needed to run for office. NDP deputy leader Thomas Mulcair denied the allegations, saying her paperwork is legitimate. Brosseau's had a rough run already: She's been soundly criticized for her pre-planned trip to Sin City in the final weeks of the campaign and for not being able to speak French fluently.
