The class-action suit, filed on behalf of a million Canadian users of PlayStation and computer-based gaming networks, alleges users' data wasn't protected.
An Ontario woman has filed a class-action lawsuit against Sony, seeking damages of more than $1 billion for the massive breach of personal data on its PlayStation and computer-based gaming networks. The suit was filed by 21-year-old Nathasha Maksimovic of Mississauga, Ont., on behalf of a million Canadian users of the PlayStation Network and the Sony Online Entertainment portal. More than 100 million people worldwide had their names, addresses, birthdates, and account information exposed by hackers in April. The lawsuit claims Sony “failed to adequately safeguard certain personal information, financial data, and usage data” from cyber attacks.
