Harper Accused of Breaking Elections Act

A comment made by Tory Leader Stephen Harper on election day encouraging people to vote Conservative could contravene the law.
Users on the online community of Reddit have suggested that Conservative leader Stephen Harper broke the Elections Act today by encouraging the public to vote for his party during a radio interview in Vancouver. The act prohibits any candidate from publicly urging people to vote for his or her party on election day. “It is certain that I will vote, and I encourage all other people to vote, and I encourage people to do the same as me and vote Conservative,” Harper said in an interview Monday morning with Bill Good on CKNW. For Elections Canada to investigate, someone would have to report his comments. At that point Elections Canada will determine if an investigation into his comments is warranted.
