History in the making? A new poll shows the Conservatives and NDP in a statistical dead heat.
A new poll by Forum Research suggests an unprecedented voting realignment that puts the NDP and Conservatives neck-and-neck as voters get ready to hit the polls. This is the first survey to show the Tories and NDP within the margin of error. If Conservative Leader Stephen Harper wins his third consecutive minority, the NDP is most likely to become the opposition with 100 seats or more, marking a historical shake-up in the House of Commons. But Forum Research president Lorne Bozinoff said the race is so close that either party could win, with a lot riding on the splits between the Liberals and the NDP votes. The survey has the Conservative party with 35 per cent support from decided and leaning voters, the NDP with 33 per cent and the Liberals at only 19 per cent, which is an all-time low for the once-dominant party.
