The Green party leader is riding high after a poll found she's likely to unseat Conservative incumbent Gary Lunn.

Green party Leader Elizabeth May's bid to win a seat in the House of Commons looks a lot more promising after a poll found she's the most likely candidate to win the Vancouver Island riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands. The poll's results found that 44.5 per cent of voters in her riding said they'd “most likely” vote, or are “leaning toward” voting, for May. These numbers show May to be well ahead of Conservative incumbent (and cabinet minister) Gary Lunn, who's sitting at 37.8 per cent, and miles in front of the local NDP and Liberal candidates. If the poll bears out on Monday, May will be the first Green MP to ever be elected to Parliament.
