Sony's online gaming network was breached sometime last week, and users are urged to check their credit card accounts for breaches.

Hackers could have intercepted the private data, including names, addresses, and possibly credit card accounts, of 77 million Sony PlayStation 3 users last week in one of the largest privacy breaches ever. The “illegal intrusion” targeted Sony's PlayStation Network, which links consoles so users can play games online, exposing the usernames and passwords of just about everyone who owns the popular system. Sony is urging clients to check their credit card statements to make sure they haven't been compromised, but so far the Japanese tech manufacturer has yet to hear of any breached accounts. The PlayStation Network has been down since before the weekend, and will continue to be out for the rest of the week.
