Four months after being shot in the head, Gabrielle Giffords will see her husband launched into space this week.
Gabrielle Giffords, the U.S. congresswoman nearly killed by a crazed gunman in January, will see her astronaut husband blast off to space this Friday just as doctors have started to tell her about the shooting that hospitalized her and killed six others. The Democrat from Tuscon, Ariz., has yet to be told the full breadth of the massacre, and hasn't heard that among the victims were her assistant, Gabe Zimmerman, Judge John Roll, and nine-year-old Christina-Taylor Green. Giffords can reportedly walk and speak in short phrases, and will be discharged on Wednesday – less than four months after being shot in the head – to witness the launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavour in Florida.
