Americans Think Tweeting Ban is 'Absurd'

Elections Canada's ban on posting early election results on Facebook and Twitter is now making waves in the U.S.

Elections Canada's warning to social media enthusiasts against posting early election results is also causing a stir south of the border. Jay Rosen, a New York University journalism professor and influential tweeter, tried to ruffle some feathers by asking his 56,000 Twitter followers whether anyone would stage an epic tweet-in to protest the "absurd" law. The Twitter and Facebook ban has continued to make headlines in the U.S., even becoming the subject of the CBS blog, "Trending Now." Rosen said if such a ban were implemented in the United States, he'd be very surprised if no one organized a civil disobedience campaign "because what are they going to do, fine 25,000 people?”
