Prairie rivers have flooded more of Manitoba's land than ever before, and all eyes are on Winnipeg's two rising rivers.

More than 1,000 people have been displaced by record-breaking floods in Manitoba and Saskatchewan as concerns mount over two rivers expected to crest in Winnipeg at the same time. Most of the evacuees come from First Nations in central Manitoba and eastern Saskatchewan, which have been inundated with heavy flooding caused by melting snow. More of Manitoba has been deluged by overflowing rivers this year than at any point in its recorded history. Sandbagging efforts continue apace in Winnipeg, where the Red and Assiniboine rivers are expected to peak within two weeks. Damage in the two provinces is expected to top the $70 million incurred by 2009's flood.
