Somehow, Gary Bettman convinced the American network to carry hockey games for another 10 years.

Americans will continue to largely ignore NBC's hockey broadcasts for at least another decade, as the NHL signed a 10-year deal on Tuesday with the broadcaster worth $2 billion. The new contract will see NBC and its cable affiliate, Versus, air 100 games during the regular season, as well as rights to All-Star games, outdoor games, season premiere games in Europe, as well as every single playoff game, a first for NBC that could lead to the lowest-rated televised sporting event in American history when the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets Pt. II battle for the 2018-19 Stanley Cup.
