Minister's Office Hired Niece of Carson's Ex-Girlfriend

Another week, another revelation in the ever-unfolding world of former PMO staffer Bruce Carson.

The niece of one of Bruce Carson's ex-girlfriends (the one who ran a prostitution ring in North Carolina) was hired for a plum staffer job under Conservative cabinet minister Gary Lunn in 2008. Carson, a former adviser to Stephen Harper whose multiple fraud convictions and post-PMO dealings have cast doubt over whether he should have worked that closely with the prime minister, was dating Barbara Lynn Khan when her niece, Sarifa Khan, was hired by Lunn's office during his time as natural resources minister. Lunn's office said Carson had never spoken to them on behalf of Khan, who was in her early 20s and would have made at least $53,000 a year in the job. Carson and Barbara Lynn Khan purchased a condo together in Ottawa after he left the PMO in 2009. The couple split up shortly thereafter.
