Yemeni President Given Two Weeks to Resign

After two months of protests, Yemen's religious and tribal leaders have joined the largely youth protesters in calling for Ali Abdullah Saleh's ouster.

Yemen looks to be the next Arab country to oust its heavy-handed ruler, as its protesters – now supported by the country's religious scholars and tribal leaders – have given President Ali Abdullah Saleh two weeks to step down. Following two months of peaceful protesting in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, there now appears to be broad-based support to oust Saleh, who has ruled Yemen since 1978 and has now reportedly sought protection from prosecution as a term of his resignation. More than 100 protesters have been killed in the Middle Eastern country, a U.S. ally that's home to a big contingent of al-Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula.
