The IOC's inclusion of women's ski jump brings balance to the Games and gives Canada more medal hopefuls.
The International Olympic Committee has added women's ski jump as one of four new sports to be tested at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, along with ski halfpipe, mixed biathalon relay and team luge events. This comes after the Supreme Court of Canada denied a grassroots campaign led by female ski jumpers to get their sport included in the 2010 Games in Vancouver and Whistler, as well as two previous attempts to do so through the IOC. The sport, along with the Nordic Combined ski event, were the only ones that had been limited to male athletes at the Olympics, as the IOC maintained there weren't enough female competitors to justify its inclusion.
