Zookeepers believe the snake is still somewhere inside the reptile house.
Where’s a mongoose when you need one? A deadly Egyptian cobra is thought to be on the loose somewhere inside the Bronx Zoo’s reptile house after disappearing from its enclosure Saturday. Keepers closed the exhibit after noticing the animal was gone, but not before several visitors had wandered through the building unaware that they were in the company of a slithering fugitive packing a lethal dose of venom. Zoo workers said they’re confident the 50-cm-long snake hasn’t left the building and are hoping it will reappear once it gets hungry or thirsty.
