The screen legend was laid to rest in California Thursday at a ceremony that began 15 minutes late, at her request.

Fashionably late to the very end, Elizabeth Taylor was interred Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., in the same mausoleum in which her long-time friend Michael Jackson was laid to rest in 2009. The service was a relatively small one, with four-dozen close friends and family attending. A larger memorial will likely take place in two weeks’ time in order to give her legions of fans a chance to mourn the celebrated actress. Her funeral included a poetry reading from her close friend Colin Farrell, and her grandson Rhys Tivey played “Amazing Grace” on the trumpet. Taylor died Wednesday of congestive heart failure at the age of 79.
