The new version of the internet browser has captured 1.95 per cent of the market in a single day.
The battle of the browsers heated up Tuesday with the launch of the fourth generation of Mozilla Firefox, just a week after Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 was unveiled at Austin’s SXSW festival. Since yesterday Firefox 4 has grabbed 1.95 per cent of the global browser market, while IE 9 has only managed to nab .87 per cent. When all versions of the respective browsers are taken into account, however, IE still has the lead with 45 per cent of global market share. Combined, all versions of Firefox have 30 per cent, and trailing the pack is Chrome, with 17 per cent. IE’s supremacy has been weakening for more than a year now; last February it held 55 per cent of market share.
