The Microsoft co-founder has donated himself right off of the top of the Forbes list of 100 billionaires.
While many of the world’s billionaires have more money than they know what to do with, Bill Gates knows exactly what to do with his: donate it. The man who got mind-bogglingly rich by revolutionizing computers has an estimated worth of $49 billion, but if he had never discovered a passion for philanthropy analysts say he would have a personal fortune closer to $88 billion. Thanks to his charitable work, when Forbes releases its list of the world’s richest billionaires Wednesday Gates will be behind Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim and uber-investor Warren Buffet. It will be only the third time since 1995 that Gates hasn’t topped the list. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is the largest charitable foundation in the U.S.
