The psychology professor said he wanted students to learn about human sexuality from “real people.”

Well, that’s one way to get students to show up to class. Professor J. Michael Bailey is in hot water after he arranged a live demonstration of a sex toy for his psychology class at the Illinois university. The risqué event occurred at a special after-class teaching session Feb. 21 and Bailey said he gave students plenty of warning that the demonstration would be graphic. About 100 students chose to attend the session, which included a discussion on the female orgasm. Northwestern University President Morton Schapiro has responded by launching an investigation into the matter, saying he was “disturbed” by the incident and felt Bailey had exercised poor judgment.
