But the prime minister may have to miss the ceremony if an election is called this spring.

Stephen Harper isn’t a fan of the opposition parties under normal circumstances, but if they force an election this spring not only will they topple his government but cause him to miss, like, the coolest wedding ever! Harper and his wife Laureen have received an invitation to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials, but the ceremony’s April 29 date would come at the climax of an election campaign if the presentation of Harper’s budget on March 22 triggers a no-confidence vote, which many observers predict it will. No doubt Harper, an avid monarchist, would love to attend.
