Speculation is rampant as to whether ailing CEO Steve Jobs will attend Wednesday’s launch event.

These Apple guys move fast. It was only a year ago that the company introduced its hugely successful iPad tablet computer, and the second generation will be launched Wednesday at the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco. Rumours are swirling around the event, and not just about what new bells and whistles the iPad 2 will feature, believed to include front- and rear-facing cameras, an ultra-thin screen, and a dual core processor. Several tech websites are reporting that Steve Jobs will be on hand to personally unveil the product, despite going on indefinite medical leave in January. Jobs has suffered pancreatic cancer and undergone a liver transplant, and this is his third medical absence from the company.
