The pop star received $1 million from the dictator in exchange for a private concert in 2007.

A few thousand Libyans could really use that money right about now. As the international community ponders aiding Libyan rebel forces, Canadian songstress Nelly Furtado has come clean about taking money from Moammar Gadhafi in exchange for a 45-minute concert at an Italian hotel in 2007. On her Twitter feed, she promised she would donate her $1-million fee to an undisclosed cause. She’s not the only pop star who ended up on the Gadhafi payroll at one time or another: Beyoncé performed for him in St. Barts, and Mariah Carey was the star of his 2009 holiday party.
