Green Bay defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 Sunday night in the biggest American sports event of the year.
It was a game that brought together all the elements of American football tradition: two of the NFL’s most storied franchises going head to head in Arlington, the heart of Texas football country. In the end it was the Green Bay Packers who came out on top, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers earning the game’s MVP award for a stellar performance that included throwing for 304 yards and three touchdowns. It was a sweet victory for the 100,000 citizens of Green Bay, WI, who collectively own the non-profit franchise in an arrangement that is unique in the world of professional sports. Green Bay still have to win two more Super Bowls to match Pittsburgh’s record of six titles however.
