MacKay’s Gaffe with the Governator

The defence minister told Arnold Schwarzenegger Tuesday that California shares a border with B.C.

Cue the online insults. Commentators have taken to Twitter in droves to come up with the best Peter MacKay geography joke after the defence minister told the former California governor that his state shares a border with Canada. MacKay made the comment Tuesday night in Winnipeg while appearing with Schwarzenegger on his cross-Canada speaking tour, and the actor-turned-politician politely pointed out that Oregon and Washington separate the Golden State from B.C. Schwarzenegger was in Toronto Wednesday and spoke to a crowd that included Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, Mayor Rob Ford, and KISS frontman Gene Simmons. Flaherty said Schwarznegger’s stories about California’s budget problems made his job in Canada “look relatively easy.”
