Sayfilden Tahir Sharif, 38, is accused of helping Tunisian terrorists blow themselves up in Iraq.

It’s a long way from Mosul to the Alberta prairies, but the FBI says Sharif was able to help orchestrate deadly bombings in Iraqi cities from the safety of his Edmonton home. After months of cooperating in a major FBI investigation into an international terrorist network, the RCMP arrested Sharif Wednesday and plan to extradite him immediately to the U.S., although that process could take months if he challenges it. Sharif is accused of using the internet to encourage would-be bombers the network recruited from Tunisia and calling their families once the attacks were carried out. He is implicated in several bombings, including one that killed five U.S. soldiers in Mosul in 2009. He’s due in an Edmonton court Wednesday.
