Crosby Could Skip NHL All-Star Game in Protest Over Headshots

The concussed superstar is reportedly angry that the league isn’t doing enough to protect its players.

When the NHL’s elite converge on Raleigh, NC on Jan. 30 for the league’s showcase event, the world’s best player might be notably absent. The Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby has been sidelined with a concussion since Jan. 6 after Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman hit him from behind, but it’s also possible that his injury occurred on Jan. 1 when the Washington Capital’s David Steckel blindsided him. Despite recent pledges from league officials to crack down on headshots, neither Steckel nor Hedmen was suspended for the hits, leaving some to ask, if they won’t protect the game’s greatest, who will they protect? Crosby hasn’t publically stated he’ll boycott the All-Star Game, but according to rumour he’s one disgruntled Penguin.
