NFL Playoffs Yield Weekend of Upsets

Number one seeds the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons both make early exits.
It wasn’t supposed to be this way. After winning their respective conferences the Patriots and Falcons were both heavily favoured to move on to the NFL semi-finals next weekend, but New England’s arch-rivals the New York Jets sent them packing Sunday, while the Falcons were blown out 48-21 by the Green Bay Packers Saturday. The Jets’ 28-21 win was sweet revenge for the team that was dominated in a 45-3 loss to the Patriots in December, and was relatively close compared to the rout in Atlanta where Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 366 yards to hand the Falcons their worst ever playoff loss. The Jets face the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday, while the Packers take on the Chicago Bears.
