Arizona Gun Sales Skyrocket

Fans of the Second Amendment are rushing to buy firearms in the wake of last weekend’s deadly shooting rampage.
Perhaps it’s no surprise that residents of a state whose most famous historical moment is the shootout at the O.K. Corral have a thing for guns. Following the attempt on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords's life last week that left six others dead, Arizonans are rushing to their local gun dealers in droves, and according to the FBI one-day firearms sales were up 60 per cent on Monday. Gun sales often spike after high-profile shootings, fueled by the perception that if bystanders with weapons could foil deadly attacks as well as fears that mass shootings could provoke the enactment of stricter gun control laws. The model of Glock pistol used in last Saturday’s attack is reportedly a top seller.
