Labour disputes could mar Prince William and Kate Middleton’s big day.
As Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles discovered last month, the Royal Family is not immune from the protests and demonstrations that have gripped the U.K. after London announced severe austerity measures last year. Now Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding on April 29 is facing severe disruption as London’s transit union is threatening to walk off the job that day over a holiday pay dispute. Shutting down the city’s Tube would make it extremely difficult for the thousands of royal watchers expected to turn out for the event to make it to central London, where the pair will be married at Westminster Abbey in the most highly-anticipated royal event since Prince Charles married Princess Diana in 1981.
