Republicans to Immediately Launch Attempt to Repeal Obamacare

  • First Posted: Jan 04 2011 09:51 AM

Their efforts are doomed to fail in the Senate, but that won’t stop the GOP from a bit of political theatre when they take over the House this week.

A day before the Republicans settle into their new majority in the House of Representatives, GOP sources have leaked plans to immediately begin attempts to repeal the controversial health care legislation that Barack Obama considers a cornerstone of his presidential legacy. House Republicans will initiate attempts to scrap the health care reforms as early as Friday with a groundwork-laying procedural vote. Midterm elections last November handed the Republicans a sizeable majority in the House but the Democrats retain control of the Senate and have announced intentions to defend Obamacare to the last, ensuring that the coming debate in the House will be a display of ineffective but no doubt rancorous politicking.
