Favre’s Incredible Streak Ends at 297 Straight Starts

The Minnesota Vikings QB failed to suit up Monday night against the New York Giants, ending one of the greatest streaks in sports history.

Before Monday night, Brett Favre had started every regular season game since Sept. 20, 1992. His streak survived numerous injuries, including broken bones, and even two retirements (both of which Favre emerged out of when football season rolled around), but was finally ended by a monster hit laid on him by the Buffalo Bills’ Arthur Moats last week. The football gods almost smiled on Favre when a blizzard collapsed the roof of the Vikings’ stadium Sunday, causing the scheduled game against the Giants to be moved to Detroit and pushed back a day. But that simply wasn’t enough time for Favre, 41, to recover from his injury. The Favre-less Vikings lost to the Giants 21-3.
