Swedish Bomber Had More Targets, Police Say

Authorities say that the man behind two blasts in Stockholm on Saturday failed to detonate a third bomb.

Two explosions rocked a busy shopping district in Sweden’s capital Saturday, but luckily the bomber was the only one killed. Authorities believe they have identified the bomber as Taimour Abdulwahab, a 28-year-old Swedish citizen who had been living in the U.K. for 10 years, and said Monday that the bomb strapped to his chest likely detonated before he could fully carry out his plans. He was carrying at least one other bomb in a backpack, leading authorities to believe he was planning to hit another target before he accidentally blew himself up. Abdulwahab was the registered owner of a car that exploded shortly before the suicide blast, and he sent journalists an email promising “jihad” hours before the explosion.
