Franco and Hathaway to Host Oscars

The young stars will share hosting duties and hope to avoid the disaster that was Baldwin-Martin 2010.
The producers of Hollywood’s biggest annual bun fight have announced that James Franco and Anne Hathaway will co-host next year’s Academy Awards. Letting such youngsters take the wheel is a change for the Oscars, which are usually hosted by old hands like Billy Crystal or Steve Martin. Co-hosting has also been rare for the past two decades, but last year Martin co-hosted with Alec Baldwin and the pair delivered some cringe-worthy moments in a highly scripted performance. While Franco’s and Hathaway’s good looks put them firmly in the ‘heartthrob’ and ‘babe’ categories respectively, they’re also considered two of the finest young actors going and producers are hoping they’ll provide the perfect mix of ratings and credibility.
