Iranian Nuclear Scientist Killed by Bomb Blast

Tehran is blaming Israel for two bomb attacks apparently targeting professors working on Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran’s state media said that men on motorcycles attached bombs to the windows of the scientists’ cars as they drove to work. Majid Shahriari of Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University was killed by one blast, and another scientist, Fereydoon Abbasi, escaped with injuries from a separate attack. Iran’s pursuit of nuclear power has increased tensions in the Mideast, where most countries fear Tehran’s growing influence. Israel has been most vocal in its concerns, and has not ruled out the possibility of missile strikes against nuclear sites in Iran. In 2009, the UK’s Daily Telegraph reported that Israeli security agencies were targeting Iran’s scientists in a covert war against the country’s nuclear program.
