The whistleblowing website is set to release documents related to U.S. diplomatic activities.

U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson has called Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon to inform him that the imminent WikiLeaks release could cause tensions between the two countries. WikiLeaks will release the sensitive documents in the next few days, and U.S. intelligence officials believe they will reveal compromising internal communications relating to many U.S. allies. Some of the documents are expected to reveal the pressure Washington has exerted on foreign countries to repatriate prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay. The White House is believed to have pressed Ottawa to except the repatriation of Omar Khadr. U.S. officials also predicted the fallout of the WikiLeaks report could include the recall of U.S. diplomats from foreign posts.
