British Bookies Take Bets on Royal Wedding Date

Smart money says William and Kate will be married sometime in July.

British betting houses, which take wagers on anything from soccer to soap operas, are so sure Prince William’s royal wedding will take place in July that they’ve stopped accepting bets on that month. The prince announced yesterday he will marry his long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton in the spring or summer of 2011, which technically could mean anytime between March and September. But British weather being what it is, there are only six weeks of reliable sunshine per year, and major sporting events and William’s June 21 birthday have further narrowed the field of potential dates. The favourite so far appears to be Friday, July 8. You heard it here first.
