Montreal Mob Boss Gunned Down

The 86-year-old godfather of the Rizzuto family was shot dead in his home yesterday.

Nicolo Rizzuto’s murder is only the latest in a string of killings that has rocked the Sicilian mafia in Montreal. Over the past 15 months, Rizzuto’s grandson and two of his high-ranking soldiers were killed, and his son-in-law was kidnapped. After those incidents, police warned Rizzuto that his life may be in danger. Authorities are unsure what’s causing the turmoil in the city’s most notorious crime family, and it’s also unclear if Rizzuto was still actively involved in the criminal syndicate. It’s believed Rizzuto’s killer waited in the woods outside his house and shot him through a window.
