Cargo Bomb Would Have Exploded Over Canada

The time bomb pulled off of a UPS flight in London was timed to detonate over Canadian airspace.
Despite being addressed to a Chicago synagogue, the real target of the bomb found on board a UPS flight two weeks ago was the plane itself. The bomb was removed, but authorities later discovered it was timed to explode at 5:30 am ET on Oct. 29, at which time the plane was 257 km northwest of Québec City. Canada was probably not a target of the attack, as the UPS flight has several alternate routes and the bombers would have had no way of knowing which one it would take. On the same day, another bomb was found on board a plane in Dubai. The Yemen-based group Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the thwarted attacks.
