Deadly Attacks Target Iraqi Christians

A series of recent attacks have been aimed at the country's small Christian minority.
Fourteen roadside bombs exploded in Baghdad and a mortar was fired into the Doura district yesterday in an apparent attack on Iraq’s Christians. Three people were killed and 32 were wounded. The series of attacks came ten days after a daring assault on a Catholic church that left 52 people dead. A Sunni militant group claimed responsibility for that attack, and two days later bombs targeting Shiite neighbourhoods killed 63. Observers fear a rise in sectarian violence following inconclusive elections in March that produced no clear winner and left the country’s political and religious groups struggling for power. Iraq’s politicians have yet to form a government following that election.
