Geldof mad! Geldof smash!
In March, the BBC World Service broadcast a story that insinuated money raised through the superstar concerts organized by musician Bob Geldof had been diverted by Ethiopian rebels and used to buy weapons. After the Live Aid Trust lodged a complaint, the broadcaster has now admitted that there was no evidence to back up the claims, and plans to run an apology on all its outlets that aired the story. Geldof, who has been organizing the Band Aid and Live Aid concerts since 1984, said he welcomed the apology and hoped it would help repair some of the “appalling damage done.”
