Tories crush Liberals in fundraising race … again

The latest figures say the Conservatives raised more than twice the amount of money as the Liberals last quarter.
While Michael Ignatieff has seen his popularity edge upward this year, his party’s fundraising has actually decreased. In the previous quarter the Grits raised $1.7 million, but in the quarter ending in September netted only $1.47 million. The Conservatives by comparison pulled in $4 million, consistent with this year’s previous two quarters. The NDP has made significant gains, raking in almost as much as the Liberals at $1.3 million, up from $747,136 the previous quarter. The Conservatives credit the popularity of the government’s economic and crime policies for their continued financial dominance. One anonymous senior Liberal MP called his party’s numbers “dismal.”
