Hangover 2 cast nixes Mel Gibson cameo

The troubled actor gets shut out of the frat-boy comedy sequel.

Anyone who stuck around theatres for the end credits of the Hangover knows that the filmmakers behind the movie aren’t afraid of a little controversy. But apparently they are more offended by Mel Gibson than graphic depictions of oral sex. Director Todd Phillips had asked Gibson to play a cameo role as a Bangkok tattoo artist in the Hangover 2, but the cast and crew said they wouldn’t work with him. Once the most beloved man in Hollywood, Gibson’s become toxic for movie studios after a string of scandals that has included drunk driving arrests, anti-Semitic slurs, and allegations of domestic violence. The Hangover 2 is slated for release in May, 2011.
