Did you know she is Victoria’s “best know citizen”?

On Wednesday Victoria residents celebrated the unveiling of a new statue honouring painter and author Emily Carr. Celebrations were short lived however for Ann Geddes, the president of the Parks and Recreation Foundation of Victoria, who took a closer look at the $400,000 bronze work of art and noticed an error any copy-editor worth her salt would have caught instantly. Some one had omitted the “n” in “best known.” Geddes said that the problem would be fixed immediately but would not say how much it would cost. That part of the statue will have to be shipped back to Edmonton, where it was cast.
