The Canadian citizen says CSIS is responsible for his abuse while in a Sudanese prison.

The Canadian government has issued a statement of defence refuting just about every aspect of Abousfian Abdelrazik’s allegations that Canadian officials arranged for his arrest in Khartoum even though they knew he would be tortured. Abdelrazik was arrested in Sudan in 2003 on suspicion of terrorism and claims he was abused in prison. Once he was released Ottawa denied him a Canadian passport for years and he was stranded in Sudan. Although both CSIS and the RCMP have since issued written statements clearing him of any wrongdoing, he remains on both the UN’s and U.S. terrorism watch list. He’s seeking $27 million dollars from the Canadian government, which he alleges knowingly violated his Charter rights.
