The former commander of CFB Trenton admits to two murders, two sex assaults, and 82 home invasions.
The arrest of Col. Russell Williams in February shocked the Canadian military. He was still in charge of CFB Trenton at the time, but had been leading a double life partly spent terrorizing and murdering women. At a Belleville, ON court this morning, his lawyer said he will plead guilty on all charges. He’s facing life in prison, and it’s believed he’s attempting to negotiate the best possible conditions for his imprisonment. In the wake of his arrest, police in other jurisdictions attempted to link him to other murders in communities in which he had lived during his rise through the military ranks, including Halifax and Winnipeg. Prosecutors believe that he has given a full confession, however.
