The San Francisco Giants clinched the National League West yesterday and will face the Atlanta Braves.
The MLB’s post-season match-ups were finally firmed up yesterday, the last day of the season. The Giants, the Braves, and the San Diego Padres were all vying for spots in the National League Division Series, but the Padres stumbled at the finish line, managing just four hits and losing 3-0 to the Giants. The Giants and Braves begin their series on Thursday while the Cincinnati Reds will face the Philadelphia Phillies in the other NLDS. In the American League, the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, and Texas Rangers all clinched playoff berths days ago, but only yesterday did the Rays capture the pennant. Texas will face Tampa and New York will take on Minnesota. Both series start Wednesday.
